Cassidy Moore and Nikki Hazelett May 15, Finding true love in high school, although rare, is the reason many embark on countless dates and relationships until they feel that spark. Dating does not have to be all about true love and finding a soulmate, it can also be about having fun with someone who makes you feel good. Dating as a teenager is all about finding yourself and understanding what makes you happy. No one should be stressed and pressured to date the perfect person; dating in high school is a way to grow before you reach college.
Are you faithful to your current commitments? It is our actions that reflect our interior lives. If you cannot commit to the basic actions required in your current state of life, then you cannot fully commit to another person. What are you willing to give up? We are over infatuated with incredibly lousy examples of sacrifice in love.
Dating in high school can be a positive experience, but it's not essential. You can not date, you can casually date, you can have a girl or boyfriend. But above all, be open to God - He's the only ct of your life that is truly essential.
Romeo and Juliet, for instance; they kill themselves because they think that the other is dead and they cannot live without the other. Let God write your love story.
God will always come through.
The question posed above is not merely about what you have to give up to better love another. But it is a dangerous proposition, to prepare you to give up any relationship with another that the Lord might call you out of. By being open to the reality that you will go where God desires, God will trust you with a deeper clarity of where to go next. In short, pray. You can not date, you can casually date, you can have a girl or boyfriend.
Trust God. Also, take it easy. A date is a date so treat it as such - as nothing more than an opportunity to know someone else a bit better - not practice for a marriage proposal. A boy or a girlfriend - not a fiance or a spouse. Grow together, challenge one another, but keep Christ at the center. In conclusion: pray, take it easy, trust God, and pray again. I struggled with loneliness some back in high school. Still do. I knew that having a boyfriend would make me feel less lonely, but I knew that loneliness was a lie. I had friends and family around me who I could hang out with. Additionally, I believed Jesus was right by my side every inch of the way, so I had no cause to turn to a boyfriend to stop my loneliness. My friend pointed out that now that she was single again, she felt freer to reach out to other girls around her and grow in friendships.
She had more time to serve with her church than she did when she was dating. My resolve was strengthened. In fact, it was four years after my friend and I created the above list before a guy asked me out. Now that Caleb and I are dating, I do kinda wish I had some sort of experience in dating to fall back on. But I do wish I had some sort of experience to help me out.
I had time to serve my church and hang out with my friends whenever I wanted. If you would like to download a free copy of this list with room to add your own pros and cons, you can access that via the freebies page. Not a subscriber? Find out how to access the freebie.
